Jacques Goyette practiced as a notary between 1982 and 2025. He began his professional career at the firm Goyette & Goyette, founded in the 1950s.

As of 1989, he participated in several amalgamation projects aimed at merging legal firms, which culminated in the founding of Hardy Goyette & Associés, notaires et conseillers juridiques Inc. He became a partner of the Fortier, D’Amour, Goyette multidisciplinary law firm in 2017, where he focuses his practice in construction, real estate, and business financing and gets to deal with financial institutions, small and medium-sized businesses, individuals, entrepreneurs, and public companies.

He was part of a group of seven notaries in Quebec who could offer professional services backed by $40 million in liability insurance.

Over the years, he was involved with numerous business, cultural, and community organizations. As Governor of the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de la Rive-Sud (CCIRS), he presided its board of directors, founded Développement économique de l’agglomération de Longueuil, presided the Vieux-Longueuil borough, was appointed vice president of the City of Longueuil’s executive committee, presided the board of the Développement Aéroport Saint-Hubert de Longueuil (DASH-L), sat with Montréal International’s board of directors, and participated in several economic missions. He also negotiated the assignment of the Saint-Hubert Airport and was appointed as mediator when the government of Québec ordered the amalgamation of municipalities.

Jacques Goyette was awarded the Excellence Award by the Chambre des notaires du Québec for his involvement in his community and in the affairs of his profession; he was also named Personality of the Month by the Canadian Bar Association (Quebec Division).
